Antique 18kt yellow gold pair of memorial cufflinks. 3.15 pennyweight, app 8.7mm octagonal closed back bezels set with faceted rock crystal quartz. Under these stone are hair memorials of two different people, and each cuftlink is dated with the time of their demise. You can view the hair with magnification viewing through the tables of the quartz stones. One base is hand engraved "WC obt 24 Dec 1717" and the other is hand engraved "MC obt 6 Mar 1717". This is an early example of hair memorial jewelry that became increasingly popular later in the 18th and 19th centuries.

*Shipping included for continental U.S. (Lower 48)

**Any pieces marked and sold as foiled, closed back, and/or enamel, should never come in contact with water as this can cause irreparable damage. Due to the nature of antique jewelry, all stone carat weights are approximate as they are measured in their setting. To obtain an exact measurement, the stone would need to be removed from its setting which could impact the integrity of the piece**
