The coin depicted is a Roman gold aureus minted under the Emperor Trajan. The reverse side of the coin features the goddess Libertas, a personification of liberty, standing and holding a scepter. The inscription "LIBERTAS" is visible, along with parts of the full legend, "COS V P P S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC," which celebrates Trajan's rule.
